Serengeti Safari Camp is perfectly located to witness this magical event and it is without doubt the safari camp of choice amongst the Serengeti safari connoisseurs at Africa Uncovered.
What makes this safari camp so great is not only its often perfect location where one can simply step out of the tent and view the massive herds but the exclusivity of the location. Serengeti Safari Camp is usually located in areas of peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle and vehicle filled plains of other areas. A safari based at Serengeti Safari Camp is an experience of wild Africa and its great herds viewed undisturbed.
Serengeti Safari Camp has just 6 large walk-in meru tents. The tents are traditional style Meru East African luxury safari tents, which are spacious and extremely comfortable with each tent having its own en-suite facilities. En-suite facilities include a Safari bucket shower and an eco-flush toilet.
Meals are served al-fresco in the main mess tent and guests usually are seated together in the warm and cosy atmosphere of the camp.
December to April: Serengeti Safari Camp is located on the southern Serengeti Plains as it shadows the main herds which head to the Southern Serengeti to calve through February. Birding is excellent during this time, as is general game viewing.
May to Early July: Serengeti Safari Camp moves to the Moru Kopjes area, central Serengeti Plains, and to the Western Corridor as the huge herds of Wildebeest and other plains game of the migration moves west and north. The migration patterns can be unpredictable at this time of year, but the wildebeest rut (May) and the crossing of the Grumeti River (June/July) are spectacular if caught.
Mid-July to November: Serengeti Safari Camp moves to the northern Serengeti close to either the Mara or Bologonja Rivers. This area offers excellent game viewing and the river crossings are exceptional to witness.
Towards late November: Serengeti Safari Camp starts to head south again, arriving on the southern Serengeti Plains around mid-December.
Serengeti Safari Camp is a highly recommended Safari camp for guests looking to pay a little more for an exclusive safari experience, in our eyes its well worth the cost.
