Why travel to Namibia

Namibia is a fascinating country and has a lot to offer both families and couples looking for a refreshing break from the chaos of big city life.

Little Kulala Camp, Sossuvlei, Namibia.

Namibia is not your typical safari destination, sure it has an iconic national park called Etosha, however Namibia is about so much more than purely wildlife. Namibia is about amazing scenery and culture as well as magnificent wildlife viewing. Namibia also offers a diverse travel experience.

Namibia is also a fantastic country in which to undertake a self-drive safari. Driving at your own pace allows one to fully appreciate this remarkable land and appreciate the amazing experience that Namibia has to offer. Driving distances between the major attractions can be quite vast but the scenery does make the distances seem a lot shorter.

One cannot visit Namibia without visiting the amazing Sand Dunes at Sossusvlei. The dunes are some of the highest in the world and the colours that are refracted off the dunes allow for an amazing spectacle. The sea-side town of Swakopmund with its strong German influence and vast array of activities is also well worth seeing. Damaraland allows for a unique desert experience as well as the chance to see unique wild animals. The Kunene River region in the far North West of Namibia which borders Angola is one of the most remote places on earth. Then for a purely awesome safari there is Etosha National Park and the private Ongava Reserve.

Other excellent places to visit are the Caprivi Strip which lies in the North Western sector of Namibia and this region with its lush vegetation and flowing rivers is very different from the rest of Namibia. In the far south there is The Fish River Canyon which is second only in size to America’s Grand Canyon.

For those with a bigger budget a flight up the Skeleton Coast to see the amazing shipwrecked coast is a fantastic experience.

Accommodation in the Desert

So whether you are on a romantic getaway or travelling with the family, whether you favour driving yourself or flying between the incredible attractions, Namibia has so much to offer its visitors that you are sure to leave mesmerized by this fantastic country.
