Jacana Camp Summary

Jacana Camp is situated in the private Jao Concession, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. Jacana Camp is a true Okavango water-oriented camp offering the unique experience of a safari by mokoro (dug out canoe) all year round.
What Africa Uncovered says…
A lovely, small and intimate camp, offering a true Okavango Delta experience in a scenic part of the Delta.

Jacana Camp Description

Accommodation at Jacana Camp is in 5 smaller “Meru-style” tents, each raised on a wooden deck. Each tent is built on a wooden deck overlooking the floodplains and has an en-suite roofless bathroom with flush toilet and shower. The main dining area is on an elevated wooden deck between two magnificent Sycamore Figs, surrounded by dense Wild Date Palms with wonderful views over the Okavango. Downstairs, a pub and lounge with an open fire are situated under the stars, making this best for guests who want exclusivity. There are also two platform hides within the Jao Concession.

What our clients say..
“We simply loved Jacana and the beauty of this part of the Delta. The mokoros were an excellent addition to the normal game drives.”
Jane McFarlane – UK

ACTIVITIES & WILDLIFE

Activities at Jacana Camp include Mokoro trips all year round, as well as game drives during September and May when the floodwaters have receded. There are also two platform hides within the Jao Concession. Jacana Camp is set in one of the most densely populated wetland areas for sitatunga and red lechwe. All the big animals can be found regularly in the area: including elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo.

The number of animals within this area of the Delta is dependent on water levels and so can change from season to season. Birdlife at Jacana Camp is excellent.
