Greystoke Mahale is a tiny camp located at the foot of the forested Mahale Mountains and right on the shores of the beautiful Lake Tanganyika. With a tropical forested Mountain on one side and a beautiful shoreline and lake on the other, the scenery from Greystoke Mahale Camp is simply breathtaking. A small sanctuary in a remote part of pristine Africa.

Apart from the spectacular surroundings, there another reason to visit Mahale and that is for the Chimps. The forested slopes of the Mahale Mountains that rise behind Greystoke Mahale camp are home to the world’s largest known population of chimpanzees!

Greystoke Mahale is a unique and stylish camp consisting of 6 thatched chalets stretched out along a pristine palm-lined beach. Individually decorated with local fabrics and colourful driftwood, the chalets all have plenty of space, broad views straight onto the lake and a separate private bathroom.

ACTIVITIES & WILDLIFE AT GREYSTOKE MAHALE

Activities at Greystoke Mahale include chimp tracking, snorkelling, Kayaking, fishing, swimming and hiking on the many forest trails leading up the 2,500m peaks overlooking the camp.

Chimp Trekking in the morning followed by a swim in the cool clear waters of Lake Tanganyika are an ideal recipe to reinvigorate the soul.

The Mahale Mountains are one of the best places to see Chimpanzees
